Program
24 higher-end homes for independent seniors were needed to compliment the offerings
of this CCRC. Creating supportive spaces for aging-in place was a key design
criteria. All units are 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath plus den, and range from 2,600
to 2,900 square feet.
Site
A hilltop site with dramatic views to the entire Rocky Mountain Front Range
provides a wonderful setting for housing. Extensive in-home services will
be available from the adjacent nursing facility.
Solution
Streets enter the site running north -south affording units maximum views to
the west. The site grade is terraced allowing most units mountain views over
their adjacent neighbors. Large, open unit plans support a wide variety of
lifestyles. Every detail is designed to thoughtfully support aging in-place.
Cupolas above Great Rooms bring natural light in from above. Third bedrooms
may serve to house live-in caregiver as the need arises. Prairie house design
vocabulary reinforces the horizontal nature of the one-story units and encourages
low rooflines that maximize views.
