Program
A Continuing Care Retirement Community was needed for this growing recreational
destination, including skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care and
both affordable and market rate senior independent housing.
Site
A 7 acre parcel in town, close to amenities, with commanding views to the cliffs
of the Colorado River was selected. An existing Senior Center recently built
had completed phase 1 of this multi-phase project.
Solution
Our research has proven that the most desired amenity in a CCRC is views and
acess to the outdoors. Thus, this entire campus was designed around a public
park, welcoming pedestrians, bicyclists and hikers in this community focused
on nature and recreation. Patio homes line the park’s north and east
edge, while more dense, affordable senior and workforce housing create a
buffer from the future hospital planned adjacent to the park’s south
edge. Skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care form a connected parkway
and sub space to the larger whole. Aging in-place was a key design goal,
as was creating a homelike and community-welcoming setting.
